Go hands-free with voice
Dictate your messages and have replies read back to you, with nothing to set up.
You do not have to type. The app transcribes what you say into the message box and can read replies aloud, using your browser's built-in speech engine. Nothing has to be enabled by your organisation.
What you will need
- A browser with speech recognition. Chrome and Edge have it; Safari and Firefox only partly.
- Microphone permission, which the browser asks for the first time.
Steps
Start or continue a chat.
Click the microphone at the bottom-right of the message box and
speak. Click it again to stop; the transcript appears in the box.
Read it over, then press Enter.
Click the speaker under a reply to hear it.
For a real conversation, open Settings → Speech and turn on Conversation Mode: you speak, it sends, it answers aloud, it listens again. Voice and Audio Playback Rate on the same tab change how replies sound.
Make it better
- A quiet room and short sentences with pauses transcribe best.
- Set the dictation language on the Speech tab if it keeps mishearing you.
- Keep Auto send text off when the content is sensitive, so you can read the transcript before it goes.
